We Have the Power to Create Our Own Opportunities

“Opportunity invites growth.
Growth builds strength.
And every change opens the door to a new experience or opportunity.”
To me, that’s the circle of (daily) personal growth.
It’s not about rushing toward big goals.
It’s about pausing, reflecting, and choosing to move forward. Step by step, in your own rhythm.
After working in an office for over 40 years, I’ve reached a personal and professional turning point.
My next step is to take my “office space” outside.
More and more, we find ourselves glued to screens, sitting for hours in artificial light.
Often disconnected from what truly matters.

But what if we changed that?

What if conversations, coaching sessions, or even lunch breaks took place outdoors.
In a park, forest, or on the beach (wherever feels right). Where we can breathe fresh air, clear our minds, and recharge?
To me, that’s what Walk & Talk coaching is all about.

We don’t sit across from each other in a room.
We walk side by side. Outdoors.
The rhythm of walking creates a natural flow and helps us return to our own rhythm.
In the office, everything often feels rushed:
Targets need to be met.
Excel sheets are due.
Inboxes overflow.
Calendars are packed.
But outside, as fresh air fills your lungs, we slow down.
It creates space for questions like:
“Where am I now?”
“What do I need?”
“What step feels right for me?”

Walk & Talk coaching isn’t about fixing.

It doesn’t focus on results. It focuses on (personal) insights.
Where space and silence can lead to clarity.
And that feels like freedom to me.
And honestly the focus on personal insights makes me very happy.
For over 40 years, I was focused on results and deadlines. Now, I choose a path where curiosity and personal connection matters more than targets.
“Sometimes, the smallest step is the bravest one.”
And sometimes, a short walk can shift something deep inside.
When I walk around the Toolenburgerplas in Hoofddorp, I often stop on top of the hill and look out over the lake.
That is who I am as I enjoy having an overview, whether of a project or task.
Maybe it comes from a need for control or working hard. But it also reminds me of the importance of letting go.

And that’s okay too.
I’m okay too.

So if you’re standing at a crossroads, or simply longing for more connection with yourself, I hope this encourages you:
You don’t have to figure it all out at once.
You just have to start with one step.
And I’d be honored to walk that step with you.

I warmly invite you to join me.
And even more I challenge you
to take not 1 but 7 steps into nature with me on Saturday, the 14th of June.

I will be guiding a free “stiltewandeling” in Dutch.
Title “ Ontdek de natuur in 7 stappen” around the Toolenburgerplas in Hoofddorp.
Discover what walking around the Toolenburgerplas with me can do for you.
It is not a hike.
Not a goal.
Just a quiet walk with yourself, within a small group, guided by me.
